Day Fair – Thursday 17th November 2016

£55,000 raised to help build The Cove Macmillan Support Centre – All records were broken at last year’s 2015 Macmillan Christmas Fair, hosted for the third year at Eden. Organised by a team of volunteers, with the support of the Eden events team, over £55,000 has been raised to help Cornwall’s cancer patients.  With tickets for the popular Preview evening selling out in advance of the event, an amazing £52,000 was spent on the stalls alone (excluding ticket entry) over the two days of the Fair. committee with bags

The limited edition shopping bag, designed by Cream Cornwall and sponsored by Lillicrap Chilcott sold out on the day, with the popular raffle also raising double the 2014 figures. “This is the biggest amount we have raised in the event’s history,” explains Committee Co-Chairman Jane Hartley. “Since the Fair was first launched 24 years ago by our President Lady Mary Holborow, we have now raised in excess of £524,000 for Macmillan in Cornwall.  From the committee of volunteers, stallholders and business sponsors, through to the Eden Project and the visitors themselves, we’re very grateful to everyone for their continued support.”

The charitable annual event, hosted in the sparkling Eden Kitchen heralds the start of the season of goodwill in the county, and this year was no exception.  Featuring an abundance of gifts and home accessories, clothing and jewellery through to an array of the finest produce in the Food Hall, the Eden Kitchen (the space between the biomes) hosted 56 stallholders from Cornwall and beyond.  With Eden throwing its doors open for free on the day, visitors only had to pay entry to the Fair itself with money going direct to help build The Cove Macmillan Support Centre at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske.

The 2015 Cornwall Macmillan Christmas Fair was sponsored by Lillicrap Chilcott, CleanEarth, Walker Crips, Hodgsons, South West Water, Midas, Karen Jackson Design, Headland Printers, Wild Card, MailAway, St Austell Brewery, Western Power and Duchy Hospital.  Waitrose also gave generously for the tombola.
