Colonel Edward Bolitho President

Born and brought up in Penzance, Colonel Edward Bolitho spent 20 years in the Grenadier Guards before returning to Cornwall in 1998, to run Bolitho Estates on behalf of his wider family. He was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in September 2011 on the retirement of the late Lady Mary Holborow.

He is involved in a wide range of business and voluntary sector organisations, with an official role in more than 40 and involvement in many more. Despite being a hopeless shopper, he is particularly delighted to be President of the Christmas Fair because of the outstanding and life-enhancing work the Cornwall Community Foundation does; not to mention the enthusiasm and brilliance of all involved in making the Fair the phenomenal success it has become.

Edward is married to Alexandra and they have twin daughters, a son and a large number of dependent animals.

Kate Holborow Co-chair, Sponsorship, & PR

I have been on the receiving end of fabulous gifts from the Cornwall Christmas Fair for many, many years (my mother Mary Holborow founded the fair some 25-plus years ago) and when I moved back to Cornwall in 2008 I was really pleased to be asked to join the team. It is rewarding and fun to work as part of such a brilliant and supportive team of volunteers and I have made some great friends along the way.

I have been fortunate to witness the work and impact of the Cornwall Community Foundation in the county and welcome the chance to help (even in a small way) to ensure CCF can continue to change lives in Cornwall. My specific responsibility is to bring the sponsors in and ensure they get the proper profile and recognition to reflect their generosity.; Without that support we would not be able to raise the funds we do. My company, Wild West, runs the PR campaign for the Fair on a pro bono basis and I am very grateful to the team for the support on this. See you at the Fair!

I’ve worked for The Christmas Fair for 27 years, since the very beginning. I started organising art sales at the Christmas Fair, and then took over selection and running of the stalls, which I did for 15 years. This was all at the Hotel Bristol in Newquay, where we held the Fair for 20 years in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support Cornwall. It was outgrowing itself, and after much research, Eden Project kindly offered to act as our host.  This was a huge move, but it’s been a very successful partnership. We now raise over double the amount taken previously. At the Hotel Bristol we aimed to raise around £20,000 each year. Our target at Eden is now to exceed £50,000 each year.

The money raised at the Fair goes directly to Cornwall Community Foundation, after 27 years of raising for Macmillan. Supporting community projects that do a huge amount of beneficial work with the struggling communities of Cornwall.

Kate and I are very proud to lead a very vibrant, hard working team that achieves more and more each year, committing valuable time and energy with endless enthusiasm. We are all working hard for the good of our amazing county.

Be sure to come and support us!

I joined the Cornwall Christmas Fair Committee in 2021 and was so impressed not only by the drive and enthusiasm of my fellow committee members but also by the fact that this wonderful annual event raised a whopping £73,000 for The Cornwall Community Foundation. I am a huge supporter of the work that the Foundation does for those individuals and communities in need in Cornwall and so it is an honour to be part of a team working towards raising funds for this very worthy cause.

The Cornwall Christmas Fair is a very special event that marks the start of the Christmas season for me. It is a chance to meet up with friends, discover some delicious food, do some present shopping (often for myself…!) and get in the spirit of Christmas. I have always so admired the committee who work so hard to make the magic happen and raise so much money for a fantastic cause – having been involved with fundraising for the CCF in the past I am constantly aware of the need for the charity in Cornwall. So I am now very excited to be taking on the role of Ambassador.

I am looking for other Ambassadors who will introduce new people to the Fair and spread the word – if you would like to help by bringing a group of friends to the Fair, please get in touch with me and I can tell you more about it – it is a chance to raise money for an amazing cause and have some fun at the same time!

I have been a member of this wonderful dynamic team since 2014, assisting with the design and print. The Fair supports Cornwall Community Foundation which is an incredibly worthy charity supporting struggling Cornish communities. Please do come along to the Fair and help us to raise as much money as possible so the CCF can continue their amazing work within the county.

Having lived and worked for most of my married life in Oxfordshire I only moved to Cornwall four years ago. As a family we feel it was the best decision we have ever made. We knew no one at all when we arrived and have been welcomed so warmly. I feel very lucky to have been included onto this committee and been able to meet such an amazing team that deliver so much every year at the Cornwall Christmas Fair. The charities of Cornwall need the support of us all.

I joined the committee last year after being asked to help out with content on the fair website. This year I have taken on the website design and will also be working on the publicity materials for the fair. After attending the fair as an artist it is wonderful to be part of such a great team organising one of Cornwall's favourite fairs.

I’m honoured and excited to be working as part of an incredible team of people who are enthusiastic about raising money for great causes in Cornwall. It feels vital to ensure that communities across the County are supported and the Cornwall Community Foundation are able to do that. I feel so lucky to be living and bringing up our children in Cornwall.

The fair is a treasure trove of food and presents that you won’t easily find elsewhere and a wonderful reason to visit Eden.

I am a relative newcomer to the committee having joined the committee in early 2013 after being a part of the initial discussions regarding moving the fair to its new home, Eden – a big responsibility following its previous success at Hotel Bristol. I am honored to be part of such a worthwhile event which has such a positive impact in Cornwall. As well as working with such a fabulous group of people who all have a wealth of experience in such an array of areas.

As the Eden Project event manager my role within the committee is to combine our dreams and aspirations to make the fair even more fabulous with the logistics and practicalities of Eden. Personally the fair for me is like a shopping heaven, with the added bonus of wine, food and of course friends! The only problem is it’s all so lovely I never want to give any of it away as gifts!

In 2015 I was honoured to be asked to become the Treasurer for the Fair. This year it is fantastic that all money raised will be donated to the Cornwall Community Foundation who help so many people throughout Cornwall.

I have been an enthusiastic shopper (and diner!) at the Cornwall Christmas Fair for several years and so I’m thrilled to be part of the committee for the second year running, helping Kate with our very generous sponsors and Amanda with our sparkling Christmassy tombola.

I’m delighted to spread the word and raise funds for CCF, a dynamic Foundation that assists so many grassroots charities to make such a difference to the people of Cornwall.

Sarah RobertsThe Great Rodda’s Cream Tea Hunt

As both a proud Cornishwoman and supporter of the Cornwall Community Foundation I was delighted to be invited to join the Cornwall Christmas Fair Committee this year. It’s an event I have enjoyed attending for many years and I’m thrilled that the Committee have chosen to support the Cornwall Community Foundation through it.

The Cornwall Community Foundation quietly supports hundreds of small charities throughout Cornwall each year, with grants that make a huge difference to some of most disadvantaged and vulnerable people within our County. I think the partnership with the Cornwall Christmas Fair and the Foundation is a perfect fit and I look forward to spreading the word about the wonderful work that the Foundation’s support enables many Cornish charities to carry out each year.

Having enjoyed a career as a professional fundraiser I will be liaising between the Christmas Fair Committee and the Foundation’s Committee to maximise the Foundation’s fundraising at the event and to hopefully gain more supporters to the charity.

Having recently moved to Cornwall I am thrilled to be a part of the Christmas Fair team raising money and awareness for such a good cause. The Cornwall Community Foundation is needed now more than ever and the funds raised make such a difference, enabling many wonderful local charities to help so many people. Whilst this year the fair itself is not possible, we’ll do our best to raise funds – and smiles – on the day and look forward to planning a cracker of a fair next year with our hugely talented and passionate team.

I’m thrilled to be involved with the Cornwall Christmas Fair. I remember going to the very first Macmillan Christmas Fair which Lady Mary Holborow hosted in a marquee at Ladock House on a wet and rainy day. I have been on the committee since the Fair moved to Eden Project.

I work at Eden, know the site and therefore make my contribution to the very hard working committee members by helping with the operational aspects of getting the exhibitors and guests in and out. Our decision to support the Cornwall Community Foundation means we can support numerous Cornish projects who desperately need help funding their important work. Long may the Fair prosper and with the generosity of the Cornish people continue to raise substantial sums for the benefit of all of Cornwall.

I was honoured to be asked to join the Cornwall Christmas Fair Committee in 2022. As Media Relations Manager for the Eden Project, using my experience to support worthy causes is hugely important to me. My role on the committee includes supporting with PR and marketing collateral, ensuring the Fair is reaching Eden's wide online and onsite audiences.

Having grown up in Cornwall and recently returned to my roots, I am delighted to have been invited to join this fantastic team. It is a wonderful opportunity to support the terrific work that the Christmas Fair does in bringing together people and business from across the county in order to raise much needed funds for the local community in a fun, collaborative environment. I hugely looking forward to rolling my sleeves up and getting stuck in – I’ve started making my Christmas list already!

I have attended the Cornwall Christmas Fair for as many years as I can remember, as a shopper. It’s always such a great event, fabulous shopping and a lovely fun, social time too.

I’m over the moon to now be part of this incredibly hard working team, raising funds for a super Cornish charity, The Cornwall Community Foundation. My role includes researching, approaching and confirming Stallholders, with Sophie and Olivia. Looking forward to seeing you at the Fair!
